Newton’s Jewelers, Inc. was founded in 1914 by George H. Newton, Sr. in McAlester, OK. He moved from Camden, AR to build his business and was very successful from the start. He married and had five children and four of his sons followed in his footsteps and opened individual stores in MO, AR, OK and IA. The business grew to 16 stores in the early 80’s. William W. “Bill” Newton owned our business until his death in 2001. His wife, Zoe and three sons, Kelly, Kyle and Kevin were all involved with the ongoing success of our business. The business has maintained a tradition of integrity, quality and dependability for 106 years and our staff are professional jewelers with AGS and GIA titles, including AGS Certified Gemologist Appraiser. In April 2019, Kelly Newton was bestowed with American Gem Society’s highest honor , the Robert M. Shipley Award.
Marilyn Newton, Sara Newton Lane, Jennifer Newton Norman and Lucy Newton are integral to the success of our business, along with long-time Newton’s Jewelers family members Gary Curtis and Richard Lang. We are a “Team” and strive to provide memorable experiences coupled with honesty and professionalism. We have won numerous design awards for exquisite custom jewelry designs and fabrication. We have traveled the world extensively for decades, searching for the highest quality color gems and diamonds, pearls and one-of-a-kind jewels.
After 106 years as purveyors of fine jewelry, diamonds and watches, we look forward to many more years of serving our customers from this region and their second and third generations throughout the U.S.
Newton's Jewelers is proud to be a part of American Gem Society. This society holds fine jewelers to a set of standards so high, less than 5% of all retail jewelry stores in the U.S. qualify to be called members. Here are a few of the requirements:
A stringent code of ethics
100% honest pricing and disclosures
Rigorous ongoing education
Tough yearly exams
In-store inspections
Our gem Lab provides the specialized equipment to determine all the specifics of each stone we examine. We have on staff Fort Smith’s only accredited and certified AGS gemologists.
